Romans 3:10–12

There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one.

Prayer

Our Lord and Sovereign, we have rebelled against you and are not worthy to be called your children. But you are merciful and forgiving. Take pity on us, Lord. We pray that you will forgive us our sins. We know that you could reject us because of them, but for Jesus’ sake we pray that you do not do so. Amen.

Derived and adapted from John Bunyan’s prayer in The Westminster Collection of Christian Prayers, by Dorothy M. Stewart (Louisville: John Knox, 2002), 49.

How sinful are you by nature?
